Two robberies and disorders this morning in Mathare

As in Kibera, Mathare voting process was slow in the morning and the chaos of polling crowd made the situation worse.

Landlords and tenants conflict arose in some parts of Mathare, Kiamaiko, Mabatini and Huruma wards around 12am. Some landlords are hiking rent, others asked the tenants to leave their houses, claiming they want to renovate the houses while others demanded tenants I.D. number. “If they continue, we won’t pay the rent al all”, a tenants said. This fact is creating tension in residential areas.

High voters have turned out at St Theresa girls primary and secondary and St. Christopher polling station this morning, in Mathare North ward. The queue started early and people were impatient at St. Stephens polling center in Ruaraka constituency after youths were making noise disrupting peace in the area. Voters were arranged in streams according to alphabetical order, before the voting started.

Two robberies experiencing at polling stations in Mathare this morning. A woman and a girl were robbed in broad daylight at Kiboro primary school and St. Theresa girls secondary respectively. Passengers at Albadir petrol station are asked to be cautious as they pass that route.
